Welcome to a book blitz hosted by Candi Kane PR for a sixth book in an NA contemporary college romance series – The Jock (North Woods University #6) by J.L Beck & C. Hallman. You will find in this post details about the book, authors, my review, and a teaser. *Note. All of the books in this series can be read as standalone romances, however, for a better reading experience I would recommend to read them all in order.
All it took was one frat party for me to notice her. Blair Jensen. Gorgeous. Nerd. With a sharp tongue, and give-no-shits attitude. The moment she sneered jock at me I was captivated.
Then she poured a beer over my head and walked away like I was nothing. Nobody turned down Cage Wilder and I knew then that I had to have her, no matter the consequences.
She had bruised my ego, and made me look horrible in front of all my football buddies turning me into the laughing stock of the team, so I made a bet with them. They claimed there wasn’t anyone that could bed the icy book nerd but I knew otherwise.
Forcing my way into her life was easy, but shutting off my feelings after we spend many late nights studying together wasn’t and it didn’t take long for me to discover there was so much more to Blair then what everyone seen.
Sweet, funny as hell, and a believer of happily ever afters I start to fall for her.
She sees me for more than a football god, and she doesn’t take any of my shit, but the bet I made still hovers over my head, the money burning in my pocket and I know that if I want more with her I’ll have to tell her the truth… before someone else does.
Question is, will she still want me when she finds out what I did?
**This is book six in the North Woods Series and is a complete standalone. It’s contains mature themes, and sexual content not suitable for all readers.**

Before I get to my review, I wanted to say that I’m a fan of this author duo and I love North Woods University series, however, The Jock is one of my least favourite in the series, but I still enjoyed it a lot.
The Bet (North Woods University #1) – 4.5 stars
The Dare (North Woods University #2) – 4.5 stars
The Secret (North Woods University #3) – 4 stars
The Vow (North Woods University #4) – 3.5 stars
The Promise (North Woods University #5) – 4.5 stars
The Jock (North Woods University #6) – 3.75 stars
“I’m not hiding form anyone, Cage. I simply choose who to let into my life because when I let someone in, I let them in all the way. I don’t act a certain way, so people will like me. I don’t do things because they’ll make me cooler. I’m myself. So what, I snort when I laugh. I’d rather read books than party. If you’re my friend, you take me as I am, no matter what. That’s what real friends do, they accept you for who you really are.”
I was super excited to read The Jock, but sadly, I did expect something more exciting, with more angst, sass and intensity. Don’t get me wrong it was good, but it was just simply a contemporary romance, which is not something I usually go for. I love enemies to lovers trope, but I wanted to see and feel a bit mote build up from their hate to love relationship. However, I still liked it, so I’m giving it 3.75 stars.
It was steamy, full of drama and a bit of humour as well. Personally for me there just was a bit too much mundane drama for my liking, but it was still a solid romance read, so if you enjoy NA contemporary romances then this book is for you.
The Jock didn’t have the usual darkness, suspense or addictive story as it’s usual with books from this author duo. This story was quite vanilla. Cage and Blair were cute together and I was rooting for their HEA.
The best part of this book was the beginning, which I enjoyed a lot as it was very entertaining and a lot of fun. The rest of the book was a cute contemporary college romance with some heart and heat. And the ending made me excited about the possible Mia’s story, so I can’t wait for her story as it has a promise for some steamy darkness and an adventure on the wild side, also Murphy’s story could be fun to read. As always I’m excited for their next books.
Highly recommended to contemporary romance readers (sadly, I prefer dark romance or RomCom, therefore, this was only a good read for me) as it is a sweet enemies-to-lovers romance story with an amazing meet cute.
Just check out the North Woods Univeristy series 😉 The first two books in the series are NA bully romances, and the rest of them are NA contemporary romances, also the first three books contain a triggering content.
