The father and stepmother I never knew.
Each has more wealth and privilege than I could’ve ever imagined.
Each has a pile of wicked dirty secrets they’d do anything to protect.

These people have grown accustomed to getting what they want, and what they want is to make my life a living hell.

Too bad for them, you can’t break someone who’s already broken.
Too bad for them, I won’t give up without a fight.
Too bad for them, I’m going to make them pay…even if it’s the last thing I do.

Laura‘s passion has always been storytelling. She spent most of her life with her nose in a book thinking of alternate endings or continuations to the story. She won her first writing contest at the ripe old age of nine, earning a trip to the state capital to showcase her manuscript. Thankfully for her, those early works will never see the light of day again!

Laura lives in the Pacific Northwest with her wonderful husband, two beautiful children, and three of the most poorly behaved cats in existence. She likes her fruit smoothies filled with rum, her cupboards stocked with Cadbury’s chocolate, and her music turned up loud. When she’s not writing or watching HGTV, she’s reading anything she can get her hands on. She’s a sucker for spicy romances, especially those involving vampires, bad boys, or cowboys!

My Thoughts

One of my favourite books are Bully by Penelope Douglas and Paper Princess by Erin Watt, so I do love to read high school bully romances that are meant for mature readers, however, Wicked Liars was nowhere near that level. Usually high school bully romances are flawed and not perfect, however, they tend to be emotionally charged, entertaining with its angst and steam that all the flaws can be overlooked, however, it was not the case with this book.

Whoa. I know it’s cliche, but I’ve always had a weakness for bad boys and these guys are the epitome of one. Stupid teenage hormones.

The main problem for me was that I didn’t like or care for the characters of this book, then there was this kind of lust triangle that I didn’t appreciate. So at the end the romance was not that great and my heart didn’t get involved.

The main thing that kept me reading was this kind of mystery-secret that Kingston was digging into, but at the same time it was just developing too slow. I was bored for most part of the book.

Wicked Liars was told in dual POV – Jazz and Kingston. His reasons for hating and bullying her didn’t make much sense. There was the usual insta-love/lust, we had some steamy scenes that were not bad, then of course some annoying teen drama and bullying. Also at one point the type of bullying that he chose to do, I did not appreciate and consider kind of unredeemable.

“I’m not used to working hard to get a girl’s attention, all right? You’ve gotta give me some room to f*ck up.”

“I don’t need to give you room for anything, Kingston. I never asked for your attention. I don’t want your attention.”

I didn’t like much the characters, but I liked their friendship and relationship dynamic. I didn’t like the lust triangle, but I liked the intensity for interactions between Jazz and Kingston. Also I didn’t get emotionally involved and got at some points bored, however, I did get a bit addicted to the story to kind of have the feeling of wanting to see how all of this will play out at the end. So I liked the suspense at the end and finally I felt strong emotions as my heart cracked a little, which made me want to see what is going to happen in the next book.
