Synopsis

Mila

Killer. Monster. Thief.

That’s what he is. The one who stole me. The man who ripped me from a life I thought was mine. There was no negotiating. No choice to be made. And no. Way. Out.

He says my whole life has been a lie. I believe him.

He says he’s addicted to my tears. I believe him.

He says once I give him what he wants, he’ll let me go…

I don’t believe him.

Saint

Orphan. Fighter. Secret.

That’s what she is. The woman I took. The woman they tried to hide from me but failed. Now she’s exactly where she’s meant to be. At my side. And at my mercy.

The blood that runs through her veins makes me her king. But to me she’s nothing but a means to an end. A way for me to feed my vengeance.

Once she gives me what I want I’ll let her go back to her miserable, mundane life. But for now, she’s mine to play with…

until she breaks.

My Thoughts

I refused to look at him across from me and stared out the window into the darkness. As quickly as day turned into night, my life changed from a reality I had always known to a nightmare, and I had no clue what it held in store for me.

I can’t wait for the next book in this addictive, exhilarating and dark series. I was enthralled by this ruthless, cruel, dark and twisted hate-to-love romance tale with secrets, murder, kidnapping and revenge.

As tears streamed down my face, my chest rising and falling while fear clawed at every bone in my body, I watched him walk away. The man in the navy suit, with the light blue eyes and textbook perfect lips. A killer. A kidnapper. The devil.

Saint really was an extremely dark anti-hero you will love to hate. He was such a cruel and twisted monster. He was not only a big A-hole, but sometimes actually a sick monster, whom I maybe hated more than loved…maybe not.

“You look at him with hate, with anger. But not at him. It’s not him you hate, or he who angers you. You’re angry at yourself. You hate yourself…for not hating him.”

I was intrigued by Saint and it was exhilarating to read from a POV of a ruthless man like him. He was powerful, determent and cruel, however, Mila was a masochist, so he was a perfect match for her. She also managed to bring out some light from his darkness.

There was nothing in his eyes. No emotion. No feeling. Nothing. Not even rage. It was an absolute void of black. Indifference, the only thing far worse than hate. It was so easy to see he was the kind of man who didn’t care about those he hurt, as long as he got what he wanted. And I was clearly the thing he wanted.

For the first third of the book I couldn’t connect with Milla, I didn’t care for her pain and tears, as she annoyed me a bit. But at the end she managed to grow on me and I learned to respect her strengths and weaknesses.

I saw the fight in her eyes slowly turning from glimmer to a searing flame. It had to be doused before she had the chance to acknowledge it, before she could even think of standing up against me. There was no fighting me, no stopping me from getting what I wanted, and it was a lesson she needed to learn as soon as possible.

Their relationship and romance developed slowly and intensely. Some of the hotter scenes were hard for me to read, they made me want to cry because of the way he treated her, however, it was a part of the alluring darkness of this story. Warning, some of the themes and scenes in this book can be disturbing for some readers, also this story is for mature readers only (18+). It wasn’t all just cruelty, there were some a bit more tender scenes as well, some angsty, some steamy and even a bit humorous ones.

Mine. But only for six months. After that, she’d leave, go back to her own life. And, as she so eloquently put it, forget I existed.

The thought gnawed at my bones, angered me, thinking the day would come when she would walk away and wipe me from her life as if I were nothing but an unwanted pencil mark. A speck of dust on the soles of her feet.

I hated it. But I hated that I cared more.

This was an intense and very emotional read that left me breathless. I did see most of the twists coming, however, I still believe that those were some good twists and turns that kept this story interesting. The end was kind of a cliffhanger, so you have been warned. At the end this book let me feel hate and love at the same time, it let me feel hopelessness and hope at the same time, which was the emotional combinations that I wanted to experience while devouring this guilty-pleasure read.
