It’s Friday and time for a Friday memes of Book Beginnings on Fridays hosted @ Rose City Reader, First Lines Fridays @ Wandering Words, The Friday 56 hosted @Freda’s Voice. So the idea for this post is to share with you a few first lines from a book that I have decided to feature today, and to share a snippet from page 56 or in case of eBook a sneak peek 56% into the book. Let’s not keep you waiting and look at today’s featured book.
As today is Valentine’s Day, I decided to feature one of my recent romantic comedy reads by my fauvorire RomCom author R.S. Grey. This book was just released, like a week ago, and I swallowed it up on release day in couple of sittings, I kind of needed a break to eat at least once that day 😂 If you are ready to fall in love with a wholesomely great guy (who is a doctor, BTW), and just a tiny bit annoying and immature heroine who manages to grow on you by the end; to smile, laugh and shed a few tears; to enjoy a sweet romance story with a brother’s best friend, then this book is for you. There was fun banter, heart-warming and heart-breaking moments, some very steamy scenes, a bit of drama, well researched and written medical stuff, and some bumps on the road to HEA for this cute couple.
So here you go, book of the week – Doctor Dearest by R.S. Grey 😍
The first lines of the book
Chapter One – Natalie
Let it be known that it’s incredibly difficult to sneak into a hospital. The security measures are no joke: locked double doors, guards posted like sentinels, ID access points, and boobytrapped wires that detonate grenades if you accidentally trip them. Okay, I made that last one up, but it really does feel like I’m trying to survive the boss level of a video game just to make it up to my usual post in the burn intensive care unit.
This paragraph already makes it look like this could be very entertaining and a fun story to enjoy with a glass of wine or warm cup of tea.

Chapter Eighteen – Conor
“Good night,” she whispers, pressing a kiss to my shoulder.
“Night,” I say, staring up at the ceiling, wondering how soon is too soon to tell Natalie I’m hopelessly in love with her.
This made me swoon. R.S. Grey usually writes mature, intelligent, honorable, thoughtful and sweet male protagonists that it’s impossible not to fall in love with them, Conor was not an exception 💕

Dr. Easton is part man, part myth.
He’s a formidable surgeon. Highly respected in his field.
He also happens to be an ex-collegiate quarterback with a classically handsome face.
Are you catching on yet?
A walking Ralph Lauren ad.
He’s also so off limits he should come with a warning label: This way lies heartache.
Not only is he an attending at the hospital where I’m training, he’s also my brother’s best friend. If you’ve lost count, that’s two reasons why I plan on putting this ridiculous crush behind me. Besides, it’s definitely not mutual.
Dr. Easton has never once paid me special attention. No tempting smirks. Not even one subtle innuendo. To him, I’m just another resident—all but invisible.
For the last five years, I’ve mentored Natalie in the OR, stayed in line, and kept my hands to myself, but it’s been agonizing.
Natalie is trouble in scrubs. A walking temptation I’ve been forced to ignore.
For so long, I’ve wanted her in silence. By the time fate finally throws me a bone, my patience has run out.
Natalie’s brother is leaving town, and he wants me to watch over her while he’s gone.
He has no idea how I feel about her.
Neither does she.
But she will.
Haven’t you heard good things come to those who wait, Natalie?
Well…I’ve done my waiting.
Thanks for stopping by! I obviously loved this book because the story was fun and sweet; it was an entertaining and quick read; and the male protagonist Conor was just perfect, also his best friend, Natalie’s brother Noah was great, and Natalie’s best friend Lindsey was cool as well. I just had some frustrating moments with the female protagonist Natalie a few times where I wanted to shake some sense into her, but nobody is perfect, we all make mistakes. Otherwise I had a great time with these characters and the sweet romance.
Are you ready for some fun romance time? If you are looking for your next romance read then I definitely recommend that you pick up one of R.S. Grey books.
Have you read Doctor Dearest or any other book by R.S, Grey? If yes, what were your thoughts? Happy Valentine’s day!
