It’s already February of 2020, time really flies as I still haven’t had a chance to look back and talk about the best books of 2019. However, today I will start with my most read authors of 2019. I read five, four, three or two books of several different authors, but for this list it had to be six or more books read during 2019. So here is the list of 7 most read authors in 2019, however, this is not my favourite authors’ list of 2019, that one you can find here.
7. Lindsey Hart
I read 6 books written by Lindsey Hart, some of them were e-ARCs. I must admit even though I read quite many contemporary romance books of miss Hart, she is not exactly the right author for me as the average rating for her books was 3 stars with highest rating of 3.5 stars and lowest – 2.5 stars.
6. Hettie Ivers
I read also 6 books by Hettie Ivers and all of them were from Werelock Evolution Series, which is a paranormal romance about werewolves and werelocks. I should note that these are not safe romance stories with some darker themes as well. I liked this series, and the average rating for this author was 4 stars with highest rating of 4.25 stars and lowest – 3.5 stars.
5. Mimi Matthews
I read 7 books written by Mimi Matthews. I would have read more of her historical romance fiction books if there were any published. Basically, during December I read all of her fiction books and loved most of them. Mimi Matthews has become my favourite historical romance author. The average rating for this author was 4 stars with highest rating of 4.5 stars and lowest – 3.5 stars.
4. Penelope Douglas
I read 7 books (8 books if you count the novella that was included in one of them) written by Penelope Douglas. Out of the eight books, six were re-reads of one of my favourite series Fall Away. She is one of my favourite authors who writes dark contemporary romances. The average rating for her books was 4.7 stars with highest rating of 5 stars and lowest – 3 stars.
3. Lauren Layne
I read 13 books written by Lauren Layne. I loved her Sex, Love & Stiletto series and Oxford series. She has become one of my favourite contemporary romance authors this year and the average rating for her books was 4 stars with highest rating of 4.75 stars and lowest – 3.5 stars.
2. J.L. Beck and Cassandra Hallman
I read 15 books written by author duo of J.L. Beck and Cassandra Hallman. I pretty much have read all of the books that they have written together. I loved most of them but sadly there were a few that I didn’t like as much. They write quite dark romance books that are not meant for all readers as they are quite problematic and with many trigger warnings attached. Their stories are my go to when I’m looking for a dark contemporary romance. My favourite series by this author duo was The Rossi Crime Family. The average rating for their books was 3.8 stars with highest rating of 4.5 stars and lowest – 2.5 stars.
1. R.S. Grey
I read 17 books written by R.S. Grey. Sadly I was just 4 books short in reading all of her published work but I’m planning on finishing the rest of them this year. I guess, it’s pretty obvious that miss Grey is my favourite romantic comedy author. Her first books were more like YA contemporary romances (which were my least favourite novels of hers) but now for several years she has been established as an adult romantic comedy author with some great books. The average rating for this author was 4.1 stars with highest rating of 5 stars and lowest – 3 stars.
So here you go, this is my TOP 7 most read authors of 2019, and as you can see I read quite many contemporary romance books (even though my favourite genre is YA fantasy) last year. I usually prefer to read romance comedy, but time to time I like to read some thrilling and steamy dark romance books to make my blood pump harder with my brains on high alert.
I would recommend R.S. Grey and Lauren Layne for contemporary romance readers, Mimmi Matthews to anyone enjoying historical fiction, and if you are looking for dark and sometimes twisted romance then give a chance to Penelope Douglas or duo of J.L. Beck and Cassandra Hallman.
Who were the most read authors for you in 2019? Did you read any books from the authors in this list? If you did then what were your thoughts on them? If not then are you planning to read any of them in 2020?
