Bookish memes on Friday – March 15, 2019 (features ‘Keep Me’ by J.L. Beck and Cassandra Hallman)

Dear book-lovers,

It’s Friday and time for a Friday memes of Book Beginnings on Fridays hosted @ Rose City ReaderFirst Lines Fridays @ Wandering WordsThe Friday 56 hosted @Freda’s Voice. So the idea for this post is to share with you a few first lines from a book that I have decided to feature today, and to share a snippet from page 56 or in case of eBook a sneak peek 56% into the book. Let’s not keep you waiting and look at today’s featured book.

My today’s read and also the best book that I have read this week is a romance thriller with some dark themes. Be ready to hate and love the hero of this book as he is a hard-core killer, cold monster and scary crime boss who turns into a very possessive and controlling alpha male with softer side. If you are looking for a good guy, you won’t find him here. The heroine at times is a bit too naive and innocent but at the same time she can be also strong and brave. The plot is griping and thrilling, and will make you balance on the edge of a sharp blade. Justbe warned this book is not for everyone with its dark and a bit twisted romance, sex, violence, death and bloody scenes.

So here you go, book of the week – Keep Me (The Rossi Crime Family #3) by J.L. Beck and Cassandra Hallman 🙂

The first lines of the book

Prologue – Xander

The gun was heavy in my sweaty hands. I wasn’t afraid of killing my father. I’m sure he knew it was coming far before I decided to do it, but tonight was the night. He wouldn’t hurt Damon and me ever again, and I’d be sure of it.

Chapter One – Ella

A million scenarios are running rampant in my mind as I  try and sit up and stare into vacant space. Each one has the same ending, with me dead.

Tied up in an empty room, I gaze down at my body.

This is going to be a dark read, and I’m not so sure my heart will be able to take it.This won’t be an enjoyable, very entertaining or a fun story, but it will be thrilling, scary, twisted and addictive.

Chapter 14 – Xander

It’s not long before we pull up to the large square building. It has no sign on it, making it look like an old abandoned warehouse to any unsuspecting outsider. But to men like me, it’s a playground for the rich and powerful to buy and sell in the flesh.

(..)

“If you do anything… if you step out of line once… I’ll have to do something that neither of us are going to like. There are worse people than me in this world and most of them are going to be in this room.”

This is not a fairy-tale, this is not a RomCom, this is not a light and fluffy story. This is a dark and dangerous journey into a world which should be seen only trough pages of books. But sadly such horror exist in the real world, so if you are not ready to glimpse the horrific scenes of coldblooded murder, sex trafficking, physical, sexual and verbal abuse, then, please, keep away from this book and all the series.

Synopsis

She was my enemy…
I was her new captor….

She was the enemy…a tiny little temptress of a woman that made my blood sing for vengeance. I should be punishing her…breaking her from the inside out after finding her in my father’s clutches.

But when I discover the truth that she is just as much as a victim of my father’s wrongdoings as I am I can’t follow through.

I know then that I can’t break my little mouse…not after she’s lured me in with her big blue doe eyes, and strawberry blonde hair, and those pink painted lips that beg to be kissed again, and again.

I don’t think things can get any better…but then she makes me an offer I can’t refuse… her body, her virginity, and her complete submission, and she wants only one thing in return: help finding her sister.

What she fails to realize is that even after helping her find her sister I can’t just let her go she knows too much, she’s become a liability…but I have a plan to make certain she’ll never leave or escape me.

A plan that involves me filling her womb with my filthy seed until I make certain a piece of myself stick, and then I’ll make her the Queen of the Rossi Empire by putting a ring on her finger.

**This is book three in the series but it can be read as a complete standalone. It is a full-length novel that contains NO-CLIFFHANGERS, NO CHEATING, and has a HEA. It is a dark mafia/crime romance and contains subject matter not suitable for all readers. If you don’t like alpha’s, possessive and controlling over their leading ladies then skip this one.**

Thanks for stopping by! I liked this book a lot but in no way I support some of the themes and events that took place in it. However, sometimes it can be thrilling and exciting to experience danger in a safe environment via dark romance thriller. I actually loved the second book (Protect Me) even more. And I can’t wait to read the last two books (Guard Me and Tame Me) in this series, which are coming out next month.

Are you ready for some danger, complicated and dark romance? Are you ready for this blood chilling and exhilarating romance thriller that is meant only for 18+ audience?

Happy reading,
Lady of Bookland
