Never Underestimate the Power of F*ck It
It’s the motto I live by, and it’s what made me the Navy SEAL I am today. I’ve learned the less you care, the better. But when I wake up in a hospital in India with no memory of the last few months, I’m at a loss. Everything points to me being involved with some dangerous people.
People who kidnapped my little sister’s best friend Charlotte—who’s haunted my dreams, and now is making my reality a living hell.
I can’t remember what I’ve supposedly done, or who’s trying to kill us. All I know is that I have to find Charlotte and get us both out of this mess alive.
Only I hadn’t counted on Charlotte having her own agenda…
Each book in the Phoenix Rising series is STANDALONE:
Resurgent by Brynley Blake is a third book in the Phoenix Rising series, however, this is the first book from the series that I have read as it can be read as a standalone. Also it was the first book of Brynley Blake that I have read, which turned out to be a success and possibly a beautiful beginning for my love of Navy SEAL romances. But I would still recommend to read these three books in publishing order, just not to get some spoilers from previous books 😉
I’m a Navy SEAL. Protecting my country is more than just job, it’s my heart, my calling.
The book has a dual POV, where I liked both Liam and Charlotte’s narration. I loved Liam, he grew on me during this dangerously romantic adventure, he was protective alpha male but the same time he had a hidden romantic side to him. I liked Charlotte as well, with her bravery, snark and stubbornness. I also enjoyed their love story, which was very entertaining to follow, as Liam was step by step recovering parts of his missing memory while slowly falling for Charlotte, and as Charlotte was trying to let go, relax and enjoy her life for the time being while finding herself in some life threatening situations and falling for Liam.
Gorgeous, take-charge alpha males with washboard abs and carved muscles are so not my thing.
The plot was suspenseful and thrilling with dangerous adventure, sweet and slow-burning romance, electric chemistry, great characters and some steamy scenes. This was a fast, enjoyable and very entertaining read.
Besides, when she looks at me with those big brown eyes, I’m ready to give her the fucking sun, the moon, and trow in some stars for good measure.
I recommend it to everyone who enjoys a bit snarky and steamy romance books, strong heroines, alpha males, and sweet love stories with danger, adventure, some hot and sizzling scenes and HEA.
Sometimes, you just have to dance with the devil, even though you know how it’s going to end.
